What if I need someone else to collect my child?

This is not a problem; you just need to inform us as soon as possible. A password system is set up upon registration; if we have not met the person before we will ask for further security details to be confirmed at the door.

We will not let your child leave without this security check being satisfied by the nursery leadership team.

How will I know and find out how my child is getting on?
The child’s key person will keep a record on your child’s progress, they will share this and daily information with you regularly during handover. We welcome you into the nursery if you would like to discuss your child’s development in greater detail and we provide the two-year development check verbally and in a recorded format.

We are a friendly team so you will quickly see that you are given a thorough handover at the door, and we are always here to answer any questions.

What happens if I collect my child late?
We understand this can happen as some things are out of our control such as traffic or appointments running over. We ask for you to let us know if this is going to happen as soon as you are aware. It is not a problem once or twice but if this becomes regular you will be charged for any extra hours at our normal hourly rate.

All meals are cooked and prepared on-site. We have a 5-star food and hygiene rating. We are child and nutrition led in developing meals the children enjoy.

We respond to allergy requirements and are always ready to respond to children’s needs in terms of dislikes of textures and tastes

My child was sick during the night but seems fine this morning. Can they still come to nursery today?
No, unfortunately at nursery we have a strict policy on exclusion periods. For sickness and diarrhoea children must be away from nursery for 48 hours after the last symptom.
What is EYFS?

E.Y.F.S. stands for Early Years Foundation Stage. The EYFS is a curriculum set up by the Government that states how we as early years practitioners do things. Follow the Link to find out more. From the Government website.

The EYFS is split into seven areas in total with 3 prime areas:

  • Communication
  • Personal social and emotional
  • Physical

The remaining four specific areas include:

  • Maths
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive art and design

Within these areas we ensure children are making progress in each area.

My child is starting potty training. Can you help with this?
Yes, we strive to help in all areas of your child’s development, and we take this at your child’s pace. We follow your routine from home as close as possible and keep you in touch at every step.
We are going on holiday. Do I need to let Nursery know?
Please let us know as soon as you can about your holiday dates. This helps us organize our staff, which in turn lets us keep to our ratios for safeguarding. Holidays are charged at 50% of the normal session fee.
Can my child attend Nursery during school holidays?
Yes, we are open all year round, however we do close for Christmas and the 8 bank holidays throughout the year. If you only pay for term time only you do not attend throughout the holidays, however if we have space you can come in there will just be an extra session charge in accordance with the up to date prices.
What if my child has an accident at nursery?

Accidents do happen at nursery, while we do try our best to prevent them. If your child has an accident, we will let you know upon collection or beforehand depending on the severity of the accident.

We will fill in an accident form to outline the incident (causes, treatments, outcomes etc). We will provide any first aid needed as all staff members are trained in first aid practices and procedures.

For any bigger incidents beyond this training, we will consult professional advice through 999 or 101. We will keep you up to date throughout this process by call, text or face to face. We fill out paperwork to log all accidents. This in turn helps us avoid further accidents in the future, where possible.

Are there any nursery rules for the children?
  • We have kind hands and feet
  • We take turns
  • We use indoor feet (walking feet)
  • We use indoor voices
  • We have listening ears
  • We use kind words

We use these rules to help the children understand boundaries at the nursery these enforce life lessons which will hopefully improve the child’s transitions through school life. We model them with the behaviour of our staff and use positive behaviour management approaches to show the children we understand their emotions and build their own understanding of their own feelings too. This supports the development of their own self-awareness and supports them in their learning and social behaviour through supported self-regulation.

Are there any rules for parents & carers?
There are a few rules that we ask parents and carers to abide to these are in the interest of safeguarding and keeping the children safe. One thing we ask is that you do not let anybody onto the premises as you drop off or pick up your children.

We ask that you ask people waiting to ring the bell or alternatively get a member of staff to come and see the person at the front door.

We also ask that you do not use your mobile phone whilst on the premises for support our safeguarding policy. There are areas within the nursery that you may go to if you need to answer a call such as the office or the kitchen (areas away from the children).

Nurturing learning and wellbeing for every nursery child in our care.
